Frequently asked questions

Which flooring suits me best: porcelain, vinyl or laminate, considering use and moisture?

Porcelain is often considered for its durability, vinyl for its response to spills and laminate for its finish and wear resistance. The choice must be based on specific products: check their performance regarding moisture, scratches, pets or furniture on wheels. Substrate quality and installation also influence the result.

Can the new flooring be installed over the existing floor without removing it?

It may be feasible if the existing floor is firmly attached, the substrate meets the necessary conditions and the new system permits this type of installation. The final height at doors, thresholds and appliances must also be checked. Installing over an existing floor may still require cleaning, preparation or levelling; the solution must be verified for the chosen material.

Does the floor need levelling before installation and is this included in the price?

The need for smoothing or levelling depends on the condition of the substrate and the flooring requirements. It should not be assumed to be included in the installation price. The quote must specify the planned preparation, materials and cost; if defects appear after removing the old floor, they should be assessed before continuing.

Will the new flooring require adjustments to doors, skirting boards or transitions to other rooms?

Adjustments may be necessary when the height or thickness of the flooring changes. Before installation, measure doors, skirting boards, thresholds and junctions with other rooms, as well as appliance clearances. Required adjustments and transition profiles must be defined in the work proposal.

Can you achieve continuous flooring between rooms without steps?

It can be considered, but the levels in every room and the condition of the substrate must be checked. In some cases, old layers need to be removed or areas levelled before the new flooring is installed. If floors at different heights are retained, a transition may be necessary; the design must also respect the joints required by the system.

Can the flooring be replaced room by room without emptying the entire home?

Work can be organised by area if the flooring and layout allow it. Rooms being worked on will need to be cleared and furniture storage planned. Before choosing the phases, review how junctions between rooms will be resolved and which access routes must remain available.
